All readers beware! This is my first attempt at blogging. I give priority to those people I interact with in flesh and blood, but realizing that those who live online are also flesh and blood, I will attempt to connect. To segue… this is actually one of the issues for men’s spirituality. Spirituality in general has often been dichotomized to be a separate compartment of people’s lives. It is the intangible activities such as worship, prayer and meditation that have been labelled as spiritual while the work of our hands has been labelled as secular or unspiritual. Thus, men, especially those who are common laborers, often do not see themselves as spiritual people or the work that they do as spiritual work. It is an embodied spirituality, not some mystical esoteric stuff that only happens in the cloister. See chapter 10 in the book for more.
